It is above all the architecture and decoration of the Hälsingland farms which has made them famous and which make such an impression on visitors and travellers.

The Farmhouses of Hälsingland are characterised by magnificent, stylish architecture, with skilled handiwork and richness of detail. The term "Hälsingland farm" covers different types from various parts and parishes of the province.

There are many untouched, preserved interiors from the 18th century onwards throughout the province. This largely undiscovered cultural treasure is now being brought into the limelight through the work of the project Hälsingegårdar.

The Hälsingland farmers of yesteryear have bequeathed us a remarkable heritage.
